Robert Bruce continues a tradition of fine stone masonry begun by his
grandfather in 1917. He has won numerous awards including being judged the Best in Portland for Design and
Craftsmanship by the Homebuilders Association and The American Landscape Designers Association. He has also
won awards for Wildlife Habitat and Water Conservation.
Specializing in larger projects gives Bruce the opportunity to design
a landscape such that the different elements of construction and plantings complement one another to
yield a cohesive whole whether the theme be Contemporary, Old English Garden or Japanese Country Style.
His skills with wood, stone, water features, brick, patterned concrete and numerous other materials enable him
and his crew to successfully employ a great variety of styles. There is though, a common theme, and that is to
ground the existing structure in nature.
"Because the materials of
architecture are largely inert, nature should surround our buildings with all the signs of change that speak
more directly of life. Nature furnishes the only grace notes for buildings limited by location and boundaries.
A building's landscape should always be part of it's strength. Civilization and it's incursions only make
nature more precious." |
